Mirror Lake to Thunder Bay

Thursday morning at Mirror Lake we ate a breakfast that the girls had left for us the night before. I didn't take us long to pack and get ready for the last ride into Thunder Bay. We helped Jim close up the trailer and roll up the awning then headed for the water station to fill our water bottles.

The highway was fairly quiet this morning, plus it was nice to have a wide enough shoulder to feel safe on. It wasn't long before we reached the new turn off onto the old section of highway that we assume will now be part of Lakeshore Drive. Talk about a nice ride to Crystal Beach. I think maybe two cars passed us at that point. as we were much earlier than we expected, we stopped in at the Crystal Beach Variety for tea/coffee and a muffin.

Finishing our snack, we headed for town, meeting up with the group of TBCC riders that wanted to come out and join us on our final stretch into town. They said they would have been there earlier, but one of the riders had a flat. After many welcome homes and handshakes, we headed off again, chatting away with the riders that met us. The three of us were all excited and easily kept up the speed of the unladen riders.

Gene and Roger
Fabio and Dave

Our original plan was to gather at Wild Goose Park for refreshments, but unknown to us, plans had changed, so we decided to keep on riding and stop at the Fast Lane for lunch, as this is where the group started from. We all piled in at one table for the question and answer session that took place for the next hour.

With lunch over with the three amigos still had to cross town, as our end point was going to be the Zorzes home on parkway for two of the riders and Mountain Rd for the third amigo, with Mosquito Creek Hill as the last obstacle before home base.

We'll be posting "Our Thoughts" again in the coming week or so.
